CDC priority sectors

Canterbury Development Corporation offers selective interventions for Christchurch businesses with real potential to contribute significantly to the local economy.

Over the past 30 years, the Christchurch economic development agency has worked with a wide range of businesses, from start-ups to Small to Medium Enterprises (SMEs) from high technology firms to big players like the Pratt & Whitney Engine Centre at Christchurch Airport.

Late 2008 Chief Executive Bill Luff led the agency through a refocusing exercise to re-engage with its key stakeholder, the Christchurch City Council, and to plan the development and delivery of a Christchurch economic development strategy.

To move forward, Bill and the CDC team decided to narrow our focus to a number of key sectors.  We’re currently planning sector roadmaps and working with businesses and sector cluster groups in the following areas:
