The CDC’s Employment Development Team aim to: To maximise particiapation of Canterbury people in work, training or further education. Enhance the quality of life enjoyed by the Canterbury community through initiatives that emphasise education, workforce training, skills provision and employment Develop and deliver targeted employment initiatives that provide unemployed people with opportunities  to enter the workforce. Develop and support employment initiatives that maximise the number of sustainable jobs in the region. Work with other agencies and community groups to co-ordinate employment activities and initiatives – ensuring maximum benefit for the community Support community groups in developing the necessary skills to effectively manage their activities Prepare people for entering the workforce or changing careers through education and other targeted initiatives
