Why did you choose to move to Christchurch?

Prior to moving to Christchurch for a job opportunity, I was completely unaware of the kind of environment I was moving into. I started to research and fell in love with the superb scenic views and the number of tramping opportunities, ski fields and great fishing spots all within a stone’s throw of the city. The absolute beauty of the city brought me here without any ifs or buts.
If I were to describe the city in few words, I would say: “An outdoor city with career opportunities.”
Lastly, I am here with my family and I always wanted to raise my children in a clean, peaceful and relaxed environment.

Tell us about your lifestyle in Christchurch:

Fun at work:
Everyone at work is up for a laugh. Intergen encourages us to arrange and participate in social events on a regular basis. We have weekly Fun Friday meetings and we enjoy our blockbuster Christmas party once a year.
And yes, we work as a family.
Fun outside of work:
Fun outside of work is as important as during work. During the weekends, I usually spend time with my family – we usually go somewhere where there is fun for all of us. This is usually a fishing spot, either to catch fish or just to enjoy the surroundings.
Other ways I like to spend my weekends is to hike with friends. This activity sounds tiring, but for me it’s fun and refreshing.
I have also found a few discussion groups that I go to twice a month. It’s great to take part in social and cultural discussions, and it’s helpful to keep up with the trends. I find it a real timeout to sit and listen to people sharing their thoughts.
There’s a list of fun activities I do on weekends, but there’s no greater fun than spending time with my lovely kids.

Family aspects:

Life seems pretty busy with both work and family. My family includes my wife and three lovely children. We had two children when we moved to Christchurch and have been blessed with a third. My son is seven and goes to school, while our two little girls – two and a half and seven months – stay with their mum.
My family is enjoying a healthy life in Christchurch. We have found so many great, fun activities for the kids during the holidays as well.
We have friends from our own community and kiwi friends here, and they have played a big part in making us feel at home.

Life in Christchurch:

Living in Christchurch is like having a unique, quality and balanced lifestyle with diverse cultural aspects and a family-friendly environment. Kiwis are very cooperative and they know how to find a way do to everything.
Christchurch is “The Garden City.” I get proof of this every time I look at my own garden with lots of lovely spring flowers all around.
I have travelled to a few parts of the South Island and am yet to discover more. So far, I love every bit of this clean life.
