Why did you choose to move to Christchurch?

Christchurch is a nice place and with lots of job opportunities.

What does your company do?

Baker Boys is a wholesale baked goods manufacturer that creates a wide range of fresh-baked treats including cookies, cakes, pies and pastries.

What does your job involve?

My main tasks are producing, baking and finishing all kinds of slices and doing preparation work so production can start up the next day.

What do you enjoy about your job?

It is a challenging job, but I like that. My work is not always easy but luckily most people I work with are nice and helpful. I feel comfortable approaching them for information and asking for help.
My work time can be changed if my personal situation requires it. Baker Boys provides drinks, snacks and fruit in the cafeteria, which is very nice.
Also, when I applied for my resident visa, Baker Boys was very helpful.

How do you see your career progressing?

Over time I have learned different tasks within the slice department and I am looking forward to be able to multitask more at my work.
In 2013, I got the opportunity to take English lessons during work time, which made me realise that I can express myself much better than I thought. I now feel encouraged to contribute ideas and opinions.

Tell us about your lifestyle in Christchurch:

Fun at work:
I enjoy meeting up with my colleagues when the opportunity arises.

Fun outside of work:
Sometimes I go with my friends to the river or sea for fishing. I also enjoy watching movies and some sports.

Family aspects:

I am bringing up two teenage sons here. Over the past I have travelled to several Asian countries and I am looking forward to go to Paris this year.

Life in Christchurch:

Even though we had a series of earthquakes, I love life here. Christchurch is close to the sea and rivers, and there are many chances for us to make a good life here.
