Moved to Christchurch:
Why did you choose to move to Christchurch?
We chose Christchurch because it had everything we were looking for, including a job offer.
What does your company do?
Wyma creates, delivers and supports innovative post-harvest solutions to improve the way customers process their vegetables.
What does your job involve?
As a designer, I am responsible for the design and updating of a range of standard products. I am also responsible for a range of research and development projects.
What do you enjoy about your job?
It is a varied job – every day brings new challenges, and our market pushes us to do the best so we can stay amongst the top markets leaders.
Wyma is a great company to work for and is very international, with staff from the UK, Romania, Russia, South Africa, The Netherlands, and many more. We also have offices in China, Europe and soon the USA.
How do you see your career progressing?
There are always amazing opportunities at Wyma, but I am enjoying my position at the moment.
Tell us about your lifestyle in Christchurch:
Fun at work:
We recently had our family Christmas party. Staff members regularly organise social events and we always have drinks and a sausage sizzle at the end of the month.
Fun outside of work:
I am a proud member of Taylors Mistake Surf Life Saving Club. During the summer months I am regularly on patrol as a lifeguard and help out with coaching juniors.
My whole family is involved in surf life saving. Through this we have made a lot of good friends and now consider them our extended family.
Life in Christchurch:
Living in Christchurch has its challenges after the quakes, but it is a fast-growing city with lots to offer.
We love living in New Zealand – you can be who you are and nobody will judge you for it. It’s great for kids too as it is a safe place to grow up with lots of potential.
